[Hendricks has been doing his backreading. Strange days. He wonders how common they are. ...and look, people are the same all over, from any culture or technology level. He's not surprised that the Stanford Prisoner Experiment was invoked recently, although he's more surprised that on the balance, there isn't general rule by the more literally super-powered. That's something worth having some renewed faith in.

Also he's going to have to pay attention to the rights of non-humans-- the vampires here aren't the Black court scourges or the White court soul eaters he's used to and he has to be better than preconceptions to do this job. He'll have to figure out how to talk to the local werewolf about what form her theriomorphy takes, because she seems to be halfway between a Lycanthrope and a Werewolf in the terms of his universe.

He thinks all that and he says:]

Hey. Name's Hendricks. I'm from Chicago. New warden.

[It's been a long time since someone called him Mister Hunt. Sounds weird. Not bad, just weird.]

Back home I'm a starship captain in the Commonwealth High Guard. What about you?

Personal assistant for a property management CEO. Not bad. Mostly paperwork.

[Captain, then. Now is that infantry or naval, he wonders.]

You had a spaceship?

Yup. The Andromeda Ascendant. The best ship in the three galaxies. [Dylan certainly thinks so, at least.]

And I hope to have her again once I'm done here. [After he gets his deal.]

Why would I cut out only burgers?

I mean why go vegetarian? Nothing wrong with a burger. Werewolf or not.

There's no rule against it as far as I know, although some people may not want to talk about their deal. But yeah, I'm here to save my ship and my crew.

That's pretty noble. [He nods, jaw out.] What's it like, flying in space?

How long've you been here? Does a full moon bother you in space?

[Dylan's not sure about being called noble.] It's my fault they were put in danger. The least I can do is save them.

As for flying in space...when it's exciting it's heart-pounding life-and-death exciting. And when it's beautiful, it's the most sublime thing you've ever seen. But most of the time it's actually pretty uneventful and you get tired of the same old scenery really quick.

Chicago is Earth, isn't it? About eight Earth months, I think.

And no, actually -- there are no full moons here. It's... somewhere between unsettling and convenient. [She used to have a little watch on her collar anyway, showing the phases of the moon on a 28-day cycle that doesn't exist here, but that quietly disappeared about a month ago.]

You from Earth? That's where I'm from.

[One of the angels from his universe? Or another kind? Or Denarian, fallen but still technically angels? None of the Denarians he know of go by 'Castiel' and he hasn't met many of the fallen who bother to look human.

Then again Namshiel was a magic user who could change shapes easily and whereabouts-unkown, so let's stay cautious here. He grunts:]

We got werewolves at home. Some of'm are friendly. [Well, not to Marcone, they're firmly on Dresden's side and think that the local mafia are boo-hiss bad, but they work actively to keep the city safe and are thus safely countable as good guys.]

Some of'm aren't. Especially the ones who only change on a full moon. Tthe guys with belts are assholes too.
